R. B. Bennett leads the Tories to a smashing federal victory, defeating Mackenzie King's Liberals as voters vent their anger over the depression.

Age on becoming PM: 60

Birth: July 3, 1870 Hopewell, New Brunswick

Death: at age 76, June 26, 1947, of heart failure; Buried in Mickleham, England at St. Michael and All Angels Church**
